This course has two parts. The first part will discuss Scope of practice and legal issues that EMS providers need to be aware of and abide by. The second part of the course will discuss 6 different environmental emergencies that EMS providers need to be prepared to recognize and treat. This will include Hypothermia, Heat related emergencies, Insect bites/stings, lightning strikes, drowning and high altitude emergencies. This course will use a table top exercise with case studies  and group participation to discuss this topics

Overview of oxygenation and ventilation physiology, including positioning, PEEP, pre- and apneic-oxygenation, two-thumbs down BVM, and negative pressure vs. PPV and the dangers of transitioning, followed by hands-on of all of the above plus suctioning, adjuncts, IGel and SALAD VL. Finish with OG Tubes.

This training will cover less used medications in the DMEMSD, Common Spirit, and Clear Creek EMS protocol sets. There is also a game to cover pediatric medication dosing.
