Hypothermia and the Trauma Triad
This was a two part training - first was a presentation and Q&A session reviewing the Denver Metro Protocols for treatment of Hypothermia (5010) with emphasis on removing wet clothing and using tools for active external rewarming including hot water bottles, chemical heat packs and heated blankets. Discussion of lethal triad (diamond) for trauma patients, emphasis on preventing heat loss in all trauma patients. The second part of this training involved a scenario where responders have to manage a hypothermic patient with altered mental status symptoms.
