OB Emergencies
Dr. Schumacher, DO, is an emergency physician with USACS and works in Summit County, CO at a Level 3 and Level 5 Trauma centers. He addressed BSP and presented on obstetric emergencies including but not limited to complications of trauma for pregnant patients, considerations for CPR and transport, normal birth (best practices for delivery and care of a newborn) and common complications of vaginal birth. Specifically reviewed protocols for imminent delivery and life-threatening emergencies for mother and baby including but not limited to prolapse cord, post-partum hemorrhage. Reviewed anatomy of the pregnant female pelvis and its changes throughout pregnancy, and physiological changes of the pregnant patient including expected (normal) and critical vital signs.
