CCEMS-CCFA Complications during Pregnancy July 17, 2026
This training will focus on common complications during pregnancy including, placental abruption, placenta previa, diabetes, hypertension, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. It will discuss what EMS providers need to be aware of and what prehospital treatments they can provide. There will be a hands on session to practice field delivery practice.

1) Describe differences in blood pressure in a pregnant patient and what is considered high blood pressure
2) Name the difference in how bleeding presents with a placenta previa vs placental abruption and what treatment EMS can provide
3) Demonstrate how to assist in delivering a baby
4) Name the importance of why minor trauma in a pregnant patient should be evaluated.
5) Describe the treatment for Eclampsia seizures
6) Describe the difference between Pre-Eclampsia and Eclampsia
7) Describe what HELLP Syndrome is.
