CCEMS-CCFA Care of the newly born infant and neonatal resuscitation May 15, 2024
This training will focus on how to care of a newly born infant after a field delivery for EMS providers. It will discuss pathophysiology of the a newborn, what steps to take if resuscitation is necessary in the Prehospital environment. It will also discuss complications of a premature infant in the prehospital environment and what steps to take in caring for a premature infant.

Objectives
1) Be able to name basic pathophysiology of the newly born infant and how that effects the care of the infant
2) Be able to describe the first steps in caring for the newly born infant, including airway, breathing, warmth and blood glucose.
3) Be able to demonstrate the steps in neonatal resuscitation.
