This course focuses on the critical expansion of the EMT skills, bridging the gap between basic life support and advanced circulatory interventions. It covers the clinical indications, technical skills, and safety protocols required for Intravenous (IV) Access and the administration of IV medications in the prehospital setting.

Learning Objectives
1. Clinical Application & Site Selection
Demonstrate the ability to identify appropriate peripheral venous access sites based on patient presentation and clinical indications, while maintaining strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection control standards.
2. Technical Proficiency & Fluid Management
Execute the step-by-step procedure for initiating a peripheral IV line, including the selection of appropriate catheter gauges and the assembly of administration sets to manage fluid resuscitation and maintain vein patency.
3. Pharmacological Safety & Documentation
Apply the "Six Rights" of medication administration to the IV route to ensure the safe delivery of prehospital medications, while accurately documenting the procedure, patient response, and any complications in the electronic patient care report (ePCR).
