This class covers the causes and signs and symptoms of syncope
Learning Objectives
By the end of this class the student will be able to:
¤Describe the etiology, epidemiology, history, and physical findings for the patient suffering from syncope
¤With the patient history and physical examination findings, develop a differential diagnosis and treatment plan for a patient having a potential syncopal episode.
¤Define the acronyms SCENT, TIPS, and CHAN as they relate to syncope
¤Differentiate between cardiac and non-cardiac syncope and list pathologies for each category.
•Define seizure terminology with relation to epilepsy and non-epilepsy seizure disorders
•Discuss the etiology of seizure disorders
•Detail the signs and symptoms or partial, generalized, and status seizures
•Show how to take a history, physical exam, and perform various tests on patients who have had a seizure
•Describe treatment options available to EMS providers based on their level of certification and scope of practice
