Dr. Marc Doucette, MD, hosted a case review for Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol. Several (9) cases were reviewed in in detail to include prehospital interventions by ski patrol, transportation decision making, and hospital course including surgical interventions and outcomes. Imaging (x-ray, CT) was also available for viewing. Subjects discussed included but were not limited to atraumatic splenic artery dissection and splenic infarct, multisystem trauma, TIA and stroke, renal contusions, bilateral knee fracture with complicating compartment syndrome, skier vs fixed object (tree) with fracture-dislocation of upper extremity, SVT and ALS interventions including medication administration, and spinal trauma with complications in hospital including stroke and pneumonia. Discussed best practices for prehospital care in the austere environment for each case.
