Evergreen Fire Division Feb 2025 Training
This course has two parts. The first part will discuss Scope of practice and legal issues that EMS providers need to be aware of and abide by. The second part of the course will discuss 6 different environmental emergencies that EMS providers need to be prepared to recognize and treat. This will include Hypothermia, Heat related emergencies, Insect bites/stings, lightning strikes, drowning and high altitude emergencies. This course will use a table top exercise with case studies and group participation to discuss this topics

Learning Objectives
Objectives:
1. Be able to describe the signs and symptoms of Anaphylaxis reactions from insect bits and how to treat them.
2. Be able to name the steps in treating a patient with hypothermia
3. Be able to describe the concerns of fresh water near drownings
4.Be able to demonstrate the steps in caring for a person with altitude issues
5. Be able to name the steps to treat a patient with hyperthermia
6. Be able to describe the how to treat a patient whom has been struck by lightning
