Overview of oxygenation and ventilation physiology in Pediatrics including positioning, suctioning, PEEP, pre- and apneic-oxygenation, oral airway w/depressor, two-thumbs down BVM and ventilation. followed by hands-on of all of the above plus Magill forceps with DL and Glidescope, IGel and AirQ and pediatric intubation practice with the Glidescope. Discussion over the dangers of pediatric intubation and the history of RCTs demonstrating these dangers..

Learning Objectives

Objective 1: By the end of this training, the participant will be able to demonstrate the management of a pediatric airway, through positioning, suctioning, adjuncts and basic BVM ventilations.
Objective 2: By the end of this training, the participant will be able to remove an object with Magills using DL and VL.

Objective 3: By the end of this training, the participant will be able to describe the appropriate use and dangers of intubating Pediatrics. This will conclude with the student demonstrating VL intubation of the Pediatric manikin, meeting all
parameters for position, pre-ox, peep, two-person BVM, timing, and confirmation.
