This training with review common Adult respiratory disorders including specifically COPD, Asthma and pneumonia. It will also discuss the use of ETCO2 as a tool. This course will include 2 group activities  to help with solidifying the information into patient care.

 Objectives:

  1. Describe the normal anatomy and pathophysiology of the adult respiratory system.
  2. Explain the significance of a "shark fin" style ETCO2 waveform as an indicator of severe respiratory distress.
  3. Demonstrate the standard treatment protocols for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and pneumonia.
  4. Identify common complications associated with respiratory emergencies and describe appropriate prehospital treatment strategies.
