Foothills-Highland and Genesee July 13, 2026 Trauma Resuscitation and Skills

This upcoming training session is designed to train EMS providers on trauma resuscitation.The curriculum will review the importance of maintaining tissue perfusion in trauma patients and discuss both the trauma "triad of death" and the "diamond of death." We will also cover why whole blood is the preferred medium for fluid resuscitation compared to plasma and saline, and we will review the M.A.R.C.H. algorithm.

The session includes a hands-on skills component covering: Wound packing, Pelvic binder placement, Chest needle decompression, Chest seals/ chest stabilization and  Preparing a patient for whole blood administration.

 1. Name the parts of trauma assessment & Identify life threats.

2. Identify components of the triad of death and the  Diamond of death.

3. Describe why tissue perfusion is important in the trauma patient and how to achieve it through appropriate resuscitation.

4. Demonstrate how to place a a tourniquet

5. Demonstrate how to perform needle decompression

6. Demonstrate how to do wound packing

7.Demonstart how place a chest seal

8. Demonstrate how to prepare a patient for whole blood administration
