Objectives:

1. Identify the indications for CPAP and describe the provider’s applicable scope of practice.
2. Recognize contraindications, precautions, and potential complications associated with CPAP therapy.
3. Apply local protocols and clinical guidelines when determining whether CPAP is appropriate for a
patient.
4. Demonstrate proper CPAP equipment setup and application, including oxygen-source and nebulizer
requirements.
5. Demonstrate effective CPAP troubleshooting, patient coaching, reassessment, and appropriate
discontinuation when the patient deteriorates.
