Learning Objectives
- early recognition, early compressions, early defibrillation
- get to continuous compressions ASAP with an iGel or ET tube in place
- limit interruptions of compressions to less than 10 seconds, and limit those
- 30:2 when an airway above not in place
- good, calm communication is very important during the resuscitation
- keep keep people not actively participating in the resuscitation back from the scene
- After the first shock, or when any compressor is tired and not effective, switch compressors every two minutes/full cycle
- patient history and history of present situation very important
- use a metronome
- ensure really good pad contact with bare skin
- keep pt warm until ROSC obtained
- If cause of arrest is respiratory in nature, an ET tube is preferred over an iGel
