Highland Rescue-Genesee Fire-Foothills Fire December 2024 Avalanche, Ice Rescues and Cold Weather Emergencies
This program will present how to perform patient care on patients that were buried in an avalanches or have fallen through ice into freezing cold water. It will address specifics of what to be aware of and how to treat these patients.

1) Be able to name the importance of gently handling severely hypothermic patients and what can happen if handled to rough.
2) Be able to identify the different types of heat loss
3) Be able to describe the ways to mitigate heat loss in a hypothermic patient
4) Be able to describe what a hypothermia prevention kit is and how to use it.
