Ketorolac Administration
Ketorolac (Toradol) has been added as an NSAID pain management medication at Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol. Dr. Doucette, MD, is the medical director for ABSP and conducted a training on this medication for ALS providers (EMT-P and RN ski patrollers). Dr. Doucette presented on the indications, contraindications and routes of administration for ketorolac within Denver Metro Protocols. This medication can be used as an adjunct with fentanyl in severe pain management. AEMTs within ABSP attended this training to understand the drug interactions and appropriate patients to receive this type of pain management, as AEMTs can administer fentanyl but not ketorolac. This meeting was conducted over Zoom with a shared Powerpoint presentation and recorded for future consultation. The recorded presentation and powerpoints have been saved on ABPS electronic files.
