KTD Application and Lower Extremity Injuries
This training reviews the types of femur fractures that do and do not indicate application of a mechanical traction device (KTD), as well as full-body splinting using a vacuum mattress or scoop. Discussed the risk factors for hypovolemic shock, including dressings for open fractures. This training is to be completed in two parts: a) a discussion and hands-on practice with the KTD in a controlled environment, and b) a scenario-based skills assessment specific to ski area operations, including transportation of a patient with KTD.
