Management of the TBI Patient
Information for this topic was presented in scenario format for hands-on experience, followed by a debrief and Q&A with the course leader. Patient presented as altered mental status after a fall and apparent closed head injury with moderate bleeding. Skills practiced included but not limited to: bleeding control, trending vitals, recognition of Cushing reflex, c-collar and vacuum mat application, IV access, ETCO2 monitoring, rapid extrication and transport, medication administration for cessation of seizure activity.
