Mass Casualty Avalanche Scenario
Scenario based learning: in-bounds avalanche with unknown number of burials. Review of ICS structure and implementation within local operation and resources available with ski patrol, Summit County and neighboring ski areas. Scenario focus on: avalanche response and resuscitation protocols, task loyalty, patient triage, patient care, life-saving interventions, termination of resuscitation in the field, and patient transportation. Secondary focus on communication and command structure. Debrief followed immediately after with real suggestions on improving our operations.
This scenario was completed twice with different staff members.
