Peer Support Professionals Autism Awareness Training May 7, 2025
The presentation will cover what autism is, the signs & characteristics, and give tools for PEER Support professional whom support first responders on how to interact with autistic individuals should they encounter them in their organizations. They will be provided techniques on how to help individuals with autism and how to help those in their organizations be able to successfully help them.

- Be able to describe what autism spectrum disorder is & how it can present in autistic individuals.
- Be able to describe strategies, ways to interact & the importance when encountering and supporting those in EMS organizations
- Be able to name typical behavioral patterns seen in autistic individuals who are under stressful situations (e.g., fire, medical emergency), and ways to approach these situations,
