SAMPLE History and the Pharmacology of Home Meds
Tom Schofield is a Paramedic with Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol and taught this course. This course was presented in a lecture/presentation style format and conducive to an interactive conversation and Q&A. Topics covered included but were not limited to a) medications (Rx, OTC, etc) that could affect patient assessment and treatment of patients in the prehospital environment, b) specialty considerations with certain medications including contraindications/indications of other EMS medications from BLS/ALS providers, drug interactions and effects on assessment, and c) improving the lines of questioning for Allergies/Medications/Past Medical Hx when conducting a SAMPLE Hx survey.
