SAR CON 2026: The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center: Inland SAR Coordination & Real-World Examples
AFRCC leaders will provide an overview of the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC), the primary federal agency for coordinating
aviation SAR activities in the contiguous United States. Acting as a vital link to provide free federal resources to support states' SAR operations,
the AFRCC's mission is to save lives by partnering with state and local agencies, the Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the FAA. This
presentation outlines the various types of missions handled—including search, rescue, MEDEVAC, mercy, and precautionary operations—and
explains the operational procedures and interagency agreements that govern these life-saving efforts. Additionally, the session will feature real-
world case studies and facilitate an open discussion aimed at fostering better interagency cooperation and operational effectiveness.
