Supraglottic Airways (i-gel) and EZ/IO
This was a hands-on training using anatomically structured airway heads and simulated soft tissue/bone for an interosseous drill. The IO training used the EZ IO equipment. Training included how to find appropriate anatomical landmarks at the humeral head and proximal tibia, sizing of the needle/catheter, and flow rates for fluid administration at both sites. Discussed Denver Metro Protocols for Lidocaine HCL slow push. Airway training included best techniques for inserting NPA and OPA and i-gel supraglottic airway. Discussion of anatomy of the oropharynx and larynx, and tips to ensure i-gel is inserted to necessary depth.
