Thoracic Trauma
This scenario based session focused on patient assessment for recognition of thoracic and abdominal injuries including flail chest, rib fracture, tension pneumothorax, and liver/splenic lacerations. BLS treatment discussed and hands-on practice with: rapid trauma assessment, stabilization of flail chest, oxygenation, treatment for hypothermia and shock including warming and fluid resuscitation. Discussion of ALS interventions included needle decompression.
