Wheeled Litter and Emergency Response Vehicle
This session reviewed the use of a wheeled litter for safe patient transportation from the austere environment. Discussed and practiced the assembly of the collapsible litter and the bracket with "fat tire" wheel and hydraulic disc brake. Discussed and practiced the assembly and adjustment of the 4 handles. Discussed ideal patient packaging materials - vacuum mattress, waterproof barrier (tarp) and extra insulation. Practiced using the wheeled litter on flat terrain with loose gravel. This session also included a review on the emergency response vehicle. Discussed and practiced proper lifting and loading/unloading techniques with the litter and the Stryker pram. necessary. Practiced use of hand brake. And traveled over uneven terrain.
