Volunteer Basic Life Support focused Quarterly EMS training. This course will educate the BLS provider in BLS skills and knowledge on patient medical and trauma assessment. This course will focus on BLS skills including, how to ventilate a both pediatric and adult patients, use appropriate airway adjuncts, inserting subglottic airways, Spinal immobilization, appropriate use of trauma tourniquet, pelvic splint, hemorrhage control, Cardiac arrest management, use of Lucas device, CPR, Managing a BLS scene prior to ALS arrival

This training will focus on the care of Pediatric patient in the prehospital environment. It will discuss using a comprehensive team approach assigning roles to various team members on calls from BLS to critical ALS pediatric patient. This training will also discuss the anatomical, metabolic and physical differences in pediatric patients and how that impacts patient care. The training will conclude with several skills stations to go over Pediatric cardiac arrest, appropriate use of pediatric equipment, pediatric medication doses and administration and how to use child restraint systems.
