This session will cover one of those types of calls that strikes fear into every provider’s heart: the sick pediatric patient. We will cover one of the various forms of shock and then formulate different treatment strategies for them. These guys are scary because they can compensate tremendously well and for a long period of time before they suddenly decompensate and get very sick, very fast.

This session will review the normal EKG findings present in the ACS patient, normal and abnormal coronary anatomy, and then the various presentations for chest pain and ultimately the STEMI patient. We will also discuss the invasive treatment modalities including PTCA, or percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty and STENT deployment.

This session will review most of the commonly available airway adjuncts and review the normal anatomical structure and landmarks. We will move from the basics to the advanced airway management techniques and focusing on those difficult airways using LEMON or Mallampati predictive scoring to anticipate and prepare for those airways that will be problematic.

Once, only a “nice to have “capability for the prehospital provider, this diagnostic aid has firmly moved into the “Gold Standard / “must have” realm. We will review the various waveforms and the use of capnography through the use of case studies.

“MAKE IT STOP!!!” is a motivating yet realistic approach to time critical bleeding assessment and treatment built for all audiences as long as they have a rather strong stomach. This presentation will cover various types of bleeding and the appropriate treatments. We will use explicit photos and videos to illustrate just how serious bleeding can be, as well as the need to stop it.  Tourniquets will play a large roll and will be demonstrated throughout.

This session covers the underlying pathology of anaphylaxis, and allergic reactions. Additionally, we will review the various treatment modalities with particular attention towards Epinephrine. Many agencies have moved away from the Epinephrine auto-injector as it is cost prohibitive and instead moved to permitting BLS personnel to administer the medication after drawing it up traditionally.
